He Loved It

When the first words out of someone’s mouth are “God, Baby, this is incredible”, all the frantic work and worry are suddenly worth it.

Basket-weave Scarf

Well, it’s finally done. And, as much as I hate to say it, I’m sad to see it go. More accurately, I’m sad to see the new owner go. My new beau (Texas Ranger)┬áis going to be over a thousand miles away from me very soon and for a very long time. Luckily, he’s going to love this if for no other reason than the fact that I spent countless hours making it. Plus, his new stomping grounds are going to be a hell of a lot colder than they were here.

I think I had enough yarn left over to do one more block row, but I was freaking out as it was because I was in the middle of a time crunch and I was afraid to get caught with my pants down so to speak. Still, I used two balls of Bernat Alpaca- the same stuff I made my dad’s scarf out of for Christmas. The final product is a little less than 4 1/2 feet long and about 7 inches wide. Not bad. Wyoming is freezing in the winter, so he’ll have quite a bit to wrap up in. Wyoming… Wah!

What’s Cooking: Lumber Edition

So, I shelled out a little over $16 for lumber and under $9 for glue and wood screws. Add a friend with a saw and a will to do my bidding and you have Mystery Projects! Really, I’ll be getting to these soon. The boxy things are unfinished. Curious? Stick around to see what’ll happen.

Yes, this picture was taken in my trunk and no, you don’t get to see it out yet.

In other news, slow going on my scarf, but it’s getting there. Am undecided about a few aspects of Mom’s birthday gift as well. Lots of hmm-ing going on here.

What’s Knitting

Let’s start with the most pressing. I have a friend who is leaving for Wyoming in a few weeks. To guard against the cold that won’t hit for months, I’m knitting him a scarf. Incredibly original, but he loves handmade gifts.

Also, for mom’s birthday- just a peek. Can you guess what it is? I won’t tell.

And a failure. I was going to make this for a gift, but it’s now getting frogged. It’s supposed to be a Wisp, if you couldn’t tell. You couldn’t though, could you? I forgot the outside eyelets, but mostly I just HATE the way the yarn looks. It’s too thick and I did it on bigger needles, but nothing’s going. Frog.

I’ve been knitting every day though because I’ve got deadlines. Expect finished goods within the next few weeks.

Hello All

I’ve meant to post for several days now, but decided that something less taxing- like a nap- was in order. However, I have several projects in the works and a few upcoming adventures that I hope you’ll join me on. For now, feast on a few of these.
